On 26th and 27th November the subject of online publishing will be the core focus. 23 experts and thought leaders from renowned companies such as Microsoft, Axel Springer, Gruner + Jahr or the Drupal Association will be gathering under one roof at Thunder Day 2018 together with over 300 participants from all over the world. From start-ups to established companies, CTOs and CTOs from the digital and publishing sectors will be giving presentations over two days covering their own business models and providing insights into their experiences. They will be discussing the trends, opportunities and challenges affecting online publishing currently and in the future. Among other things, the focus will be on trend topics of Open Source and Blockchain and how these are determining the future.

After a successful opening in Hamburg last year, the Thunder Core Team is inviting participants this time to the Festsaal Kreuzberg in Berlin. “As an international community event, Thunder Day is bringing publishers, IT experts, decision-makers, managers and all persons who actively shape the media landscape” under one roof, explains Kai Riecke, CTO of Hubert Burda Media.

Podium Discussion: Is classic advertising dying out?

How will media generate revenue in the future? “One thing is certain: the trend is moving away from purely classical advertising”, says Riecke. Managers and CEOs from BILD, RTL Interactive, G+J Digital Products as well as Burda Studios will be facing each other on the panel entitled “Revenue streams beyond advertising”. Previous experiences, future trends, expectations and challenges in the media world affecting online publishing will be discussed. “Publishers in the digital media world are becoming more and more affected by the digital transformation”, says Riecke. “This requires a change of thinking away from traditional ways as well as new strategic evaluation.” Thunder Day 2018 is a platform for everyone wanting to shape the digital media world and discuss ground-breaking business models across all sectors.
